why hire blue ginger?

I know that for many couples the idea of having a photo taken is about as appealing as stepping on lego with bare feet, but my superpower is making those people (of whom I happen to be one) feel comfortable and at ease. Making sure you are not feeling awkward, posed or uncomfortable means I get those beautiful, natural, unguarded shots that truly capture how you are feeling on your wedding day.    

My reviews on google will give a great sense of how others have felt about the experience and you'll see the same consistent message about how it feels like having a friend with a camera coming along. Stress-free, relaxed but with a crisp high-five whenever you need. 

But Sharon and I do more than take photographs!  We’re happy to be dog whisperers, help with last minute planning, music, table arrangements and whatever else needs doing to make a wedding day super special.

my approach

I love the intimacy, connection and fun of wedding photos, but I really enjoy the 'periphery'. The ‘periphery' that not everyone sees or feels as a guest. I like to be super relaxed and easy going on the outside but inside I’m racing around to find the ‘periphery'!

This could be a fidgety client soaking up the anticipation and nervousness of the moment while waiting for their partner to arrive. The new families hugging after the ceremony - proud as punch. Proud grandparents get me everytime, when they cry I choke up. Everytime it happens, it’s one of the treasured moments for me! I’m so looking forward to my children’s children getting married one day. One of the other treasured moments for me is when the witnesses are signing the certificate and the newly married couple are sharing a moment - think a beautiful smile and a cheeky kiss when no-one is watching.  These are all the ‘periphery' - it’s real and it’s awesome!

These are the things that make weddings like nothing else I photograph. It’s an awesome and beautiful experience that I’m fortunate to be a part of and a bonus is that I get to call it ‘work’.
